VENDTEK
INTRODUCES LEADING TECHNOLOGY AND ANNOUNCES NOW
PREPAY HAS DEPLOYED 3500 e-Fresh POS TERMINAL
CLIENTS IN CANADA
April
8, 2004 - VendTek Systems Inc. (TSX-V: VSI) ("VendTek"
or "The Company"), a leading provider of software
for prepaid service distribution, is pleased to
announce that it has deployed what the company
believes to be the first IP based POS terminals
in operation in Canada selling prepaid services
and at the same time announced its wholly owned
subsidiary Now Prepay Corp. has reached 3500 e-Fresh
POS terminal clients in Canada.
VendTek
has begun to deploy IP based solutions that enable
POS terminals located in retail sites with full
time internet connections, to process transactions
faster than compared to a telephone dial up method
and at a lower cost. The use of a high-speed internet
connection to connect with the Now Prepay transaction
host server allows transactions to complete in
less than 10 seconds. The resulting faster transaction
is improving the customer experience and improving
the ability for a merchant to sell more products
consecutively during peak sales times. VendTek
continues to provide innovative solutions, which
are being commercialized in Canada by its subsidiary
Now Prepay. The new technologies being introduced
by VendTek are helping to continually grow the
Now Prepay network. VendTek is also marketing
this technology in other countries.
"The
ongoing growth and success of Now Prepay is allowing
us to offer our customers the best possible value.
Our ability to quickly develop and commercialize
new technologies is part of our value program
and ensures that our customers are getting the
best possible service. We have maintained focus
on our business plan. We announced 3000 terminals
less than two months ago and our rate of growth
is continuing to increase. We continue to generate
growing recurring revenues from these terminals
and expand our customer base. The additional commercial
relationships we are developing will soon allow
even faster growth and improved financial performance."
said Paul Brock, President of VendTek Systems
Inc.
The
POS terminals have been deployed in a wide range
of retail sites throughout Canada including several
major retail chains. The Company has demonstrated
continued growth in revenues with the ongoing
deployment of terminals. The Now Prepay POS terminal
clients and server create recurring transaction
revenues from the sale of prepaid services. Now
Prepay began selling services through POS terminals
in December 2002.

About
VendTek and Now Prepay
(www.vendteksys.com
/
www.nowprepay.com)
VendTek Systems Inc. develops, markets, and sells
e-Fresh, which is a suite of software applications
use to electronically distribute prepaid telecommunication
products and financial services. Commercialization
of
e-Fresh under license is VendTek's strategy to
create sustainable and recurring revenues.
VendTek's customers and its subsidiaries, Now
Prepay Corp. and VendTek Systems Technologies
(Beijing), are using e-Fresh software to build
electronic, prepaid services networks which enable
consumers to purchase prepaid services via POS
and self-serve terminals connected to a central
server. This system creates significant value
through improved efficiencies compared to the
traditional distribution paradigm. e-Fresh reduces
shrinkage and inventory requirements while improving
consumer access to prepaid services since it is
completely electronic and eliminates physical
cards and vouchers.
